Morocco Boosts Paris–Ouarzazate Travel as Transavia Introduces Extra Weekly Flight Through End of October

Morocco boosts Paris Ouarzazate travel with an extra weekly Transavia flight through October.

Morocco has strengthened the direct Paris-Orly–Ouarzazate aviation corridor to three Transavia flights each week operating on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays but the additional rotation is officially confirmed only through 31 October 2026. ONMT says discussions over retaining that extra winter frequency are continuing. The timing now matters because Transavia has already opened sales for its winter 2026/27 season, while newly published Moroccan data show French arrivals rising 9% and classified accommodation nights in Ouarzazate increasing 23% during the first half of 2026.

Paris Ouarzazate Aviation Story Is About Frequency Rather Than a New Route

The most important correction for travellers and the travel trade is that Paris–Ouarzazate is not a new air route.

Transavia inaugurated its direct service from Paris-Orly to Ouarzazate on 7 November 2019. At launch, it operated twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays, making Ouarzazate the airline’s eleventh Moroccan destination from Orly at that time.

The current development is therefore a capacity and frequency enhancement.

According to the Moroccan National Tourism Office, ONMT, Transavia has added one weekly rotation so that Ouarzazate is now served directly from Paris-Orly three times per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. The enhanced operation has been confirmed through 31 October 2026.

That distinction matters. Describing the 2026 development as a new Paris–Ouarzazate route would erase nearly seven years of operating history and misrepresent the actual aviation development.

Why 31 October Has Become the Critical Aviation Date

The overlooked issue is not whether travellers can currently fly directly between Paris and Ouarzazate. They can.

The unanswered question concerns the third weekly flight after 31 October.

ONMT explicitly states that the additional frequency applies until that date and that discussions with Transavia are continuing over retaining it during winter. As of 15 September 2026, the official ONMT material reviewed for this report does not confirm that the third rotation has been extended beyond October.

This creates a particularly interesting scheduling issue because Transavia’s winter 2026/27 booking season is already open.

According to Transavia’s official winter sales announcement, tickets for its winter programme cover travel from 25 October 2026 through 27 March 2027.

A Seven Day Seasonal Overlap Travel Sellers Should Notice

The official dates produce an easily missed detail.

Transavia defines its winter 2026/27 sales period as beginning 25 October, while ONMT says the enhanced three-flight Ouarzazate operation continues through 31 October.

That creates a seven-day overlap in the terminology used by the two organisations.

For agents, tour operators and aviation planners, the practical dividing line is therefore not the word summer or winter. It is the actual date.

The third weekly Ouarzazate rotation is confirmed through 31 October. Its position from 1 November onwards is the point requiring further official confirmation.

This is particularly important when building November, December or early-2027 itineraries around a three-flight weekly pattern.

Transavia Winter Expansion Does Not Yet Settle the Ouarzazate Question

Transavia has subsequently published a separate winter 2026/27 announcement covering new services and selected route extensions.

From Paris-Orly, that document specifically identifies continued winter operation for Pisa, Heraklion and Edinburgh. Ouarzazate is not included among those named Paris-Orly route extensions.

That omission must be interpreted carefully.

It does not establish that Paris–Ouarzazate will disappear in winter. Nor does it establish that the underlying service will be suspended.

It means only that Transavia’s published announcement on those selected winter extensions does not independently confirm the extra third Ouarzazate frequency.

ONMT remains the clearest primary source on that specific issue, and its position is that winter retention of the additional rotation is still being pursued.

For B2B sellers, therefore, the distinction is crucial:

route continuation and third-frequency continuation are not the same question.

New September Data Makes the Winter Capacity Question More Important

The timing is noteworthy because new official Moroccan data released since the July flight announcement point to stronger tourism demand.

According to Morocco’s official government portal, approximately 9.4 million visitors arrived during the first half of 2026, representing growth of 6% year on year.

Arrivals from France increased 9%, making French demand especially relevant to a Paris-Orly–Ouarzazate service.

Ouarzazate itself produced an even stronger accommodation indicator. Classified accommodation nights in the destination increased 23% during the first six months of 2026.

That was materially faster than the reported growth in several of Morocco’s largest tourism centres.

Morocco classified accommodation nightsH1 2026+9%
Travel receiptsH1 2026MAD 64.9 billion

These figures do not prove that Transavia’s route caused Ouarzazate’s accommodation growth. Nor do they disclose the route’s load factor.

They do, however, strengthen the commercial context surrounding the winter-frequency question: the French source market is expanding and the destination receiving the flight is recording sharply higher overnight demand.

Morocco Aviation Growth Makes Regional Air Access Strategically Important

The Ouarzazate issue is also unfolding during a strong year for Moroccan aviation.

According to official Airports of Morocco figures published on Morocco’s government portal, the country’s airports processed 22,282,997 passengers during January–July 2026, up 8.77% from the corresponding 2025 period.

International traffic reached 19,894,489 passengers, an increase of 8.82%.

Europe remained by far the largest international aviation market, accounting for 16,541,007 passengers, up 9.29%. Moroccan airports also registered 164,164 aircraft movements, an annual increase of 9.82%.

The Ministry of Tourism adds another layer. It reported 7.74 million contracted airline seats for summer 2026, up 13%, alongside 52 new international air services during the first half of the year.

That means the Paris–Ouarzazate question sits inside a much larger Moroccan policy shift towards using airline capacity as a principal tourism-growth mechanism.

Ouarzazate Now Sits Inside a Wider Regional Airport Strategy

Morocco is also investing heavily in airport capacity.

According to the official Moroccan government portal, the national Airports 2030 programme aims to increase airport passenger capacity from approximately 30 million to 80 million by 2030.

Importantly for this story, the same government material specifically identifies Ouarzazate among southern and eastern airports regarded as strategically important for strengthening domestic aviation and tourism attractiveness. Zagora is also named within that regional airport strategy.

Meanwhile, ONMT’s confirmed Ryanair winter 2026 programme provides 5.3 million seats across 156 Moroccan routes, including 17 new services connecting 14 European countries. Ouarzazate is among the thirteen Moroccan airports benefiting from the wider programme.

This does not resolve Transavia’s Paris frequency. It does show that Ouarzazate is no longer being treated as an isolated peripheral airport within Morocco’s broader air-access strategy.

Exclusive Aviation Analysis Why the Third Flight Matters More Than Its Seat Count

The commercial value of a third weekly rotation should not be measured only by additional seats.

Frequency itself has value.

Moving from a narrow weekly pattern to three operating days gives tour operators more freedom when creating departure combinations, accommodation allocations and multi-day southern Morocco products. It also reduces dependence on a small number of fixed arrival dates.

That flexibility becomes particularly important for Ouarzazate because the airport is being developed as a direct regional gateway rather than simply as an extension of Morocco’s largest hubs.

For the travel trade, however, the next stage requires caution.

Operators preparing November 2026 to March 2027 programmes should not automatically extrapolate the current Tuesday-Wednesday-Saturday three-flight schedule across winter until that extra rotation is formally confirmed.

Equally, they should not interpret the absence of confirmation as evidence that the Paris–Ouarzazate route itself is ending.

The risk is more specific: an itinerary designed around three weekly direct entry opportunities could lose flexibility if winter ultimately reverts to a lower-frequency pattern.

That makes timetable verification more important than broad destination availability.

Paris Ouarzazate Route Has Already Evolved Significantly Since 2019

The route’s history helps explain why the latest change matters.

The evolution demonstrates how Ouarzazate’s relationship with Paris has shifted from route establishment towards the harder aviation question of frequency depth and seasonality.

That is a more mature connectivity issue than simply opening another destination.

Critical Operational Takeaways for Travel Agents and Tour Operators

  • Treat 31 October as the confirmed boundary for the extra weekly Transavia rotation. Do not advertise three weekly winter flights without checking updated airline inventory or a subsequent official announcement.
  • Separate route status from frequency status. The unresolved issue identified by ONMT concerns continuation of the additional flight, not an announced closure of Paris–Ouarzazate.
  • Check November departures individually. Transavia’s winter sales period starts on 25 October, while ONMT’s enhanced Ouarzazate programme runs through 31 October, creating overlapping seasonal terminology.
  • Build flexible southern Morocco packages. Avoid making an entire winter itinerary commercially dependent on a third weekly arrival until its continuation has been formally published.
  • Monitor French demand closely. France recorded 9% arrival growth in H1 2026, while Ouarzazate accommodation nights increased 23%, providing a stronger demand backdrop for direct capacity.
  • Watch regional airline competition rather than only Transavia. ONMT says Ouarzazate is included among airports benefiting from Ryanair’s record Moroccan winter programme, increasing the strategic importance of regional connectivity.
  • Use primary sources for schedule changes. ONMT and Transavia should remain the principal references because secondary schedule databases can change before airline and tourism-authority announcements are synchronised.

Morocco Faces a Bigger Test Than Simply Adding Another Flight

The next development on Paris–Ouarzazate will reveal whether Morocco’s regional aviation strategy is moving from seasonal capacity intervention towards sustained international connectivity.

Retaining the third weekly rotation would align directly with rising French visitor demand, stronger Ouarzazate accommodation performance and Morocco’s policy of spreading air access beyond its largest tourism hubs.

If it is not retained, the route may still continue, but travel sellers could face a less flexible weekly schedule.

As of 15 September 2026, therefore, the most important aviation news is not that Transavia has suddenly opened Ouarzazate to Paris. That happened in 2019.

The real development is that Morocco has successfully pushed the corridor to three weekly flights, demand indicators have strengthened, winter sales are already open, and the fate of that valuable third rotation after 31 October remains the next unanswered commercial question for travellers and the international travel trade.
