Starting in April 2026, United will operate nonstop flights from its Newark/New York hub to four new European destinations: Split, Croatia; Bari, Italy; Glasgow, Scotland; and Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Additionally, the airline will launch a daily service between Washington Dulles and Reykjavik, Iceland, beginning May 2026. The expansion also includes year-round daily flights from Newark to Seoul, South Korea, and increased frequencies to Tel Aviv, Israel. These new routes enhance United’s ability to connect travelers to key markets, boosting both international business and leisure travel.
Expanding European Operations
With the 2026 schedule, United becomes the only U.S. airline offering direct flights to these four European cities. The airline’s expansion is part of what it describes as its most extensive international network to date. United will fly to 46 cities across the Atlantic, operating nearly 3,000 weekly international flights throughout the summer season.
United will operate the new flights to Split and Bari using Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. These will feature United’s premium cabins, including Polaris business class, Premium Plus, Economy Plus, and Economy. The new services to Glasgow and Santiago de Compostela will use Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, designed for efficient medium-haul transatlantic flights.
The new flight to Split will be the only nonstop service between the U.S. and Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast. Split is becoming an increasingly popular summer tourist destination, known for its historic architecture and beautiful Adriatic harbor. United will also serve Dubrovnik, making it the only U.S. airline with direct flights to two Croatian cities.
Flights to Bari will begin on May 1, 2026, marking United as the first U.S. airline to serve the Puglia region. Bari is known for its coastal villages and historic Old Town. United’s service to Glasgow, starting May 8, will enhance the airline’s Scottish network, complementing its existing service to Edinburgh. Glasgow is known for its vibrant arts scene, museums, and Victorian architecture.
Santiago de Compostela, Spain, will be added to United’s network starting May 22, making it the first U.S. airline to offer nonstop service between the U.S. and the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Santiago, a significant stop on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route, will offer U.S. travelers unique cultural and historical experiences.

Additionally, United will increase its Tel Aviv service, adding a third daily flight from Newark starting March 2026.
