Democratic Republic of the Congo Scales Executive Travel with Air Congo Dreamliner Flights and 24-Hour Digital Corporate Visa Corridors
DRC deploys Air Congo Boeing 787-9 flights and 24-hour corporate visas to accelerate long-haul trade travel from Kinshasa. Track the aviation shift now.
DR Congo capital, Kinshasa, will soon enjoy a significant boost in international air travel connectivity when Air Congo introduces the first of its newly leased Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet. The newly acquired Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, which arrived at N’djili International Airport on 27 October 2026 and will begin operations on 31 October 2026, is leased from MIAT Mongolian Airlines through an agreement facilitated by international aviation specialists, Chapman Freeborn. The new addition to Air Congo’s fleet expansion programme makes the airline also begin to grow its long-haul services and boost passenger capacity. The new 787-9 dreamliner will offer a three-cabin capacity of 292 passenger seats (30 Business Class, 36 Premium Economy, 226 Economy Class seats), which gives international passengers more options while expanding European routes from DR Congo’s main international hub.
Brussels and Paris Remain Key European Destinations
The new Dreamliner is expected to support Air Congo’s international operations, particularly its connections with Brussels and Paris.
Air Congo introduced its Kinshasa–Brussels service in July 2026 before extending its European network to Paris Charles de Gaulle in August. The Paris service operates through Brussels rather than as a direct non-stop connection.
This routing provides an additional travel option between Central Africa and two important European aviation gateways.
Brussels offers onward connections to several European destinations through its international airport network. Paris Charles de Gaulle provides access to a wider range of international routes, including connections to major tourism markets.
For visitors travelling to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, these European gateways can form part of international itineraries connecting with Kinshasa.
The addition of the Boeing 787-9 increases the capacity available to Air Congo, although actual flight frequencies, schedules and seat availability remain subject to the airline’s published operations.
Kinshasa Strengthens Its Role as an International Travel Gateway
Kinshasa is an important entry point for international visitors exploring the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Situated along the southern bank of the Congo River, the capital combines cultural attractions, urban experiences, museums and waterfront landscapes.
The city offers several visitor attractions, including the National Museum of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which presents the country’s cultural heritage through historical objects, traditional arts and archaeological collections.
The Congo River is another defining geographical feature of the capital. Its waterfront provides a distinctive setting for understanding Kinshasa’s relationship with the river and its neighbouring communities.
Visitors can also explore the Lola ya Bonobo Sanctuary, situated outside the central urban area. The sanctuary is known for its bonobo conservation work and provides an opportunity to learn about one of the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s most distinctive wildlife species.
Improved international air capacity can make these cultural and nature-based attractions more accessible to visitors arriving from overseas, although domestic transport arrangements remain an important part of trip planning.
DR Congo Offers Wider Wildlife and Nature Tourism Opportunities
Beyond Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo has several internationally recognised natural attractions.
The country contains extensive rainforest landscapes, river systems and wildlife habitats that contribute to its biodiversity.
Important tourism destinations
Virunga National Park
Located in eastern DR Congo, Virunga is recognised for its mountain gorillas, volcanic landscapes and exceptional biodiversity. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Kahuzi-Biega National Park
The park is known for its eastern lowland gorillas and extensive tropical forest habitats. It is another UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Garamba National Park
Located in the country’s north-east, Garamba is recognised for its wildlife habitats and conservation importance.
Travel to these destinations requires separate domestic transport arrangements and careful attention to current security conditions, park access and official travel advisories. International air connectivity to Kinshasa alone does not guarantee access to remote tourism areas.
Chapman Freeborn Facilitates Air Congo’s Aircraft Lease
Chapman Freeborn’s ACMI and Leasing division coordinated the agreement between Air Congo and MIAT Mongolian Airlines.
The aviation specialist worked with Air Congo to assess its passenger capacity requirements and identify an aircraft suitable for its operational plans.
The company also supported negotiations and coordinated the arrangement through aircraft delivery in Kinshasa.
The lease demonstrates how airlines can increase available aircraft capacity through arrangements with other carriers rather than relying exclusively on direct aircraft purchases.
For Air Congo, the additional widebody aircraft provides another resource for developing its international passenger operations.
Visa Requirements and Travel Planning for International Visitors
International visitors planning trips to the Democratic Republic of the Congo must arrange the appropriate entry documentation before departure.
The country’s official electronic visa platform allows applicants to register, submit their documentation and pay applicable administrative fees online.
The official portal states that applications are analysed within 72 hours. This should not be interpreted as a guaranteed 24-hour approval service, and travellers should allow additional time for processing and any requests for further documentation.
Visitors should also check passport validity, vaccination requirements, travel insurance and applicable health regulations before departure.
Kinshasa is served by N’djili International Airport, the country’s principal international aviation gateway. Travellers can arrange road transfers between the airport and central Kinshasa, with journey times varying according to traffic.
Air Congo’s Fleet Expansion Supports DR Congo’s Tourism Connectivity
The 787-9’s launch improves the international dimension of Air Congo’s fleet planning. With capacity for 292 passengers across three cabins, the aircraft has increased the airline’s capacity as well as providing support for its upcoming international schedule via Brussels and Paris, and in doing so, opened up greater international travel opportunities for the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The expansion of international air links is an important stepping stone for the promotion of inbound tourism for the country, along with the development of other forms of business travel and cultural links. Ultimately, however, whether the country’s tourism market benefits from the additional airline capacity will depend on how accessible the country’s destinations are, as well as the availability of accommodation and other visitor services and efficient transport links.
