South Central Railway (SCR) has launched special train services to boost connectivity for Ayyappa pilgrims traveling to Sabarimala, operating throughout the peak 2025 pilgrimage season. These dedicated trains are designed to ease congestion on regular services and provide a more convenient travel option for devotees. Running from November through January, SCR aims to offer enhanced access to key stations, ensuring smooth and efficient travel for pilgrims heading to the holy site, and contributing to a hassle-free pilgrimage experience during the busiest time of the year.

The first of these services, Train No. 07113, will operate between Cherlapally and Kollam from November 18, 2025, to January 13, 2026. This special train will run every Tuesday, providing direct connectivity from Cherlapally to Kollam, a vital gateway for Sabarimala pilgrims. The train will pass through several important stations, including Secunderabad, Lingampalli, Vikarabad, Tandur, Yadgir, Krishna, Raichur, Guntakal, Tirupati, Erode, Palakkad, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, and Kayankulam, before reaching its final stop in Kollam. This route will serve as a lifeline for devotees traveling from various regions, offering them a direct and smooth connection to the temple town.

To support the return journey of pilgrims, the SCR has introduced Train No. 07114, which will operate from Kollam to Cherlapally every Thursday between November 20, 2025, and January 15, 2026. The return service will follow the same route as the outbound train, allowing devotees to travel back conveniently after completing their pilgrimage. By scheduling the service on Thursdays, SCR ensures that pilgrims can make their way home on a regular basis, reducing congestion on the railway network and offering a steady flow of travelers.

In addition to these two major services, SCR has also introduced a special train between Kakinada Town and Kottayam. Train No. 07109 will operate every Monday from November 17, 2025, to January 19, 2026, providing direct connectivity for devotees traveling from the eastern parts of the country. The return service, Train No. 07110, will run every Tuesday from Kottayam to Kakinada Town between November 18, 2025, and January 20, 2026. These trains will ensure that pilgrims from southern Andhra Pradesh and Telangana can easily reach Kollam and participate in the Sabarimala pilgrimage without facing the challenges of overcrowded trains or lengthy delays.

In a bid to expand the network further and accommodate even more passengers, SCR has also scheduled special trains between H.S. Nanded and Kollam. Train Nos. 07111 and 07112 will run during the same period, providing an additional travel option for pilgrims coming from Maharashtra and surrounding regions. This expanded service coverage reflects SCR’s commitment to ensuring that devotees from all over the country can travel to Sabarimala with ease and comfort.

The introduction of these special trains is a direct response to the massive demand for transportation during the Sabarimala pilgrimage season. With millions of people traveling to the hill shrine each year, the Indian Railways has made significant efforts to ease the burden on regular trains, which are often overcrowded during the peak period. By offering dedicated trains for pilgrims, SCR aims to reduce the strain on the existing network, offering passengers a better experience with fewer delays and smoother journeys.

These services are not just about meeting demand; they also enhance the overall travel experience for pilgrims. The special trains will be equipped with essential amenities such as onboard catering, adequate seating, and safety measures to ensure a comfortable journey. The SCR has also implemented enhanced security arrangements on these trains to ensure the safety of passengers, especially considering the large number of devotees traveling together.

The special trains will be available for travel throughout the peak pilgrimage period, ensuring that Ayyappa devotees have access to reliable and timely transportation options. The SCR has made it clear that these services are temporary but necessary measures to meet the specific needs of pilgrims during this time. By providing additional trains, the railway network will be able to accommodate the large volumes of passengers without compromising on service quality or safety standards.

These services will be operational until January 2026, providing a reliable travel option for devotees making their way to Sabarimala. The trains are designed to provide maximum comfort and convenience, with well-maintained facilities and convenient schedules for both outbound and return journeys. This initiative is an excellent example of how the Indian Railways can step up to meet the needs of the millions of devotees who travel to religious destinations each year.

As the pilgrimage season approaches, these special trains are set to play a crucial role in ensuring that Sabarimala devotees can travel with ease and peace of mind. With a growing number of Ayyappa devotees taking part in the pilgrimage, these services are a much-needed addition to the Indian Railways’ efforts to improve connectivity and enhance the overall travel experience for pilgrims.

South Central Railway is enhancing connectivity for Ayyappa pilgrims to Sabarimala with special train services running throughout the peak 2025 pilgrimage season, ensuring smoother and more convenient travel. These dedicated services aim to ease congestion and provide direct, efficient routes for devotees heading to the holy site.

With these new special train services, the South Central Railway is setting a high standard for how public transportation can be tailored to meet the needs of religious and cultural events. The success of these initiatives will not only benefit this year’s pilgrims but also set a precedent for future pilgrimage seasons, ensuring that devotees can travel with ease for years to come.
