During the afternoon and through the overnight hours on Tuesday into Wednesday, storms are expected to fire up with a primary threat of damaging winds threatening much of the upper Northeast.
A Level 2 out of 5 severe weather risk has been issued for far northern New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and much of Maine for Tuesday.
A disturbance diving out of Canada will sweep into northern New England before pushing east overnight, setting the stage for severe thunderstorms to erupt.
According to the FOX Forecast Center, clusters of thunderstorms are expected to develop along the northern edge of a shifting heat dome as a ridge of high pressure shifts into the northern tier of the U.S. early next week.
