Markus Christ’s career journey in the hospitality industry is both impressive and diverse. A German national, Markus began his career with a culinary apprenticeship at Hilton International in Munich, which set the foundation for his future success in the field. He further honed his skills by obtaining a Diploma in Hotel Management from the Bavarian Hotel Business School in Germany. Over the years, he has worked across various regions, managing luxury city hotels and complex multi-property operations. His strong operational expertise, combined with a leadership style focused on people and performance, has made him a highly respected figure in the industry.

Having previously served as General Manager of Shangri-La Jakarta from 2019 to 2021, Markus returns with a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the hotel’s operations. His leadership during his earlier tenure helped navigate the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, all while maintaining the hotel’s operational excellence and brand integrity.
