Holiday plans are at risk for millions of Americans this Memorial Day weekend, with forecasts showing widespread rain across the South and much of the Eastern Seaboard on Saturday and Sunday.

HOW TO WATCH FOX WEATHER

A high-pressure system anchored off the Eastern Seaboard will funnel moisture from the Atlantic and Gulf of America right into the holiday weekend.

The combination of this high pressure and storms moving out of the West and across the Heartland will create a significant threat of heavy rain and travel delays across the Central and Eastern U.S. on Friday and through the weekend.

Those flying into and out of travel hubs like Dallas, Houston and Atlanta should monitor the forecast throughout the week.

In the Northeast, Friday looks to be dry before storms arrive by the weekend proper. Ahead of the rain, near-record temperatures in the 90s will break by Thursday, as a cold front moves through the region.

Temperatures will fall back to conditions more reminiscent of early-spring, with highs in the 60s through the holiday weekend.

Multiple inches of rain are possible this weekend across a corridor from Southeast Texas through Upstate New York, dampening any plans to enjoy the outdoors for the unofficial kick-off to summer.

The San Antonio and Houston metro areas, as well as parts of Louisiana and Arkansas, could see 3–5 inches of rain across the holiday weekend,

On Memorial Day itself, rain is expected across a corridor from the Southwest through New England, with the best conditions across the Northern Plains and western part of the country.
