Kenya Tourism Board has been named the top tourism board in Africa at the prestigious Africa Tourism Awards 2025 (The Balearica Awards), which took place on 1 November at the Hilton London Canary Wharf.
In a highly competitive field, Kenya triumphed over notable rivals, including the Egypt Tourism Authority, Rwanda Development Board, South African Tourism, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, and Instituto do Turismo de Cabo Verde. This win solidifies Kenya’s status as a leader in destination marketing and promotion across the continent.
In addition to this major recognition, the Masai Mara National Reserve was awarded Best Safari Destination, underscoring Kenya’s dominance in African tourism. The Masai Mara’s victory came after fierce competition from some of Africa’s most renowned national parks, including Chobe, Kruger, Serengeti, South Luangwa, and Volcanoes National Parks. This achievement highlights the Mara’s unparalleled wildlife experiences, especially the world-famous wildebeest migration, and its strong focus on community-based conservation.
Kenya’s success at the awards did not end there. The Kenya Tourism Board also earned accolades in several other categories. These included Best Tourism Video for the powerful “This is the Real Deal” campaign, Best Country Destination, Best City Destination for Nairobi, and Best International Airport for Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Together, these recognitions showcase Kenya’s diverse tourism offerings and outstanding infrastructure.
Speaking on the awards, Allan Njoroge, Acting CEO of Kenya Tourism Board, said:
