Grand Hyatt Bali Review: Is It Worth It?

There are two kinds of family holidays. The first involves cultural enrichment and carefully curated itineraries. The second involves happy toddlers, a beautiful pool, and parents drinking coconuts while wondering if this is, in fact, the pinnacle of human civilization.
Our stay at Grand Hyatt Bali fell firmly into the second category. And honestly? No complaints.

Traveling with two little ones, aged one and two, I quickly understood why this resort is so beloved by families. There were children everywhere, a relaxed atmosphere, and enough pools, restaurants, and activities to keep everyone entertained without requiring military-grade vacation planning.
If you’re looking for a family-friendly luxury resort where your children can have the time of their lives while you actually get to finish a drink, Grand Hyatt Bali deserves a spot on your shortlist.
Why Book Grand Hyatt Bali With Us?

We’re part of Hyatt Privé, Hyatt’s preferred partner program, which offers additional benefits on eligible bookings that you wouldn’t ordinarily receive when booking on your own.
These include:
- ✨ Room upgrade on arrival, subject to availability.
- 🥐 Daily buffet breakfast for up to two guests per bedroom, served in the restaurant.
- 🍹 US$100 equivalent food and beverage credit during your stay. This is non-combinable, cannot be applied to the room rate, and has no cash value if unused.
- 🕰️ Early check-in and late check-out, subject to availability.
We can also help you choose the right room, including the wonderfully memorable themed rooms that your children will talk about long after the holiday.
One of Bali’s Most Well-Loved Family-Friendly Hotels

Grand Hyatt Bali is in Nusa Dua, one of our favorite areas to recommend for families visiting Bali. The resort was full of families with young children during our stay, and the atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed. Kids were making friends, parents were chatting by the pool, and nobody seemed particularly concerned about the occasional enthusiastic squeal.
They’ve thought of the things that make family travel easier:
- 🏊 Multiple pools, including a lazy river, water slides, and a toddler splash pool.
- 🧸 A toddler’s club, kids’ club, and teens’ club.
- 👶 Readily available babysitting services for parents who would enjoy a meal sans kids, or a spa treatment.
- 🍽️ Several on-site restaurants, so you don’t have to pack everyone up and leave the resort whenever someone announces they’re hungry.
Sometimes, that’s all you want from a hotel: somewhere everyone has something to do, the logistics are manageable, and your holiday doesn’t feel like a second job.
The Themed Rooms! Yes, There’s an Actual Mermaid

I like to think I’m a sophisticated adult who appreciates architecture and beautiful design. I am also a mother of two young children, which means my definition of luxury has evolved.
A beautiful room is lovely. A beautiful room that makes my children lose their minds with happiness? Even better.

We stayed in the mermaid-themed room, where an actual mermaid welcomed us at check-in and led us to our room. Inside, the room featured mermaid costumes and jewellery, plus a lovely little corner where my daughter could do arts and crafts. It gave her something fun to enjoy beyond the traditional hotel-room activities of jumping on the bed and requesting snacks.
The themed room connects to a regular guest room, giving kids their own magical space while parents enjoy a little privacy and room to unwind.

For little adventurers who prefer pirates to mermaids, there’s another themed room featuring:
- 🏴☠️ Bunk beds and pirate costumes.
- ⚓ A ship’s wheel.
- 💤 Even a hammock.
Important: There’s only one of each themed room, and they get snapped up quickly. If these rooms are on your wishlist, contact us early so we can check availability and help you find the right arrangement.
We Loved the Pools

The pools were one of our favorite things about Grand Hyatt Bali. With two toddlers, finding a resort where both children can enjoy the water is a big deal, and this one really delivers.
There are multiple pools to explore, including water slides, a toddler splash pool, and a lazy river where we floated along together. My little ones loved having so much to see and do, and I loved that we could enjoy the water as a family rather than constantly splitting up to find something suitable for each age.

But what really stood out to me was how the pool area is designed. It feels wonderfully social, with lounge chairs and cabanas dotted around the pools where parents can settle in while keeping an eye on the fun. We saw children meeting other children, playing together, and making instant holiday friends while their parents relaxed nearby with coconuts in hand.
There’s something lovely about a resort where your kids can find their own little holiday community, even at such a young age. Everyone seems to be in the same boat: parents trying to enjoy a little downtime, toddlers discovering the world one splash at a time, and absolutely nobody expecting a perfectly quiet afternoon.
It’s lively without feeling stressful, and the pools become the natural gathering point for families throughout the day.
Lush Greenery and a Lovely Beach

Grand Hyatt Bali is more than 30 years old, and some of the rooms are inevitably a little tired. It doesn’t have the shiny, brand-new interiors of a recently opened luxury resort.
But the property has a charm that would be difficult to manufacture. The grounds are filled with mature trees and lush greenery, giving the resort a spacious, established tropical feel.

Many staff members have worked there for years, and we found the service efficient and responsive. When you’re traveling with young children, having requests handled quickly can be the difference between a peaceful afternoon and a toddler-related incident involving crackers.
The beach isn’t private, but during our stay, we mostly saw hotel guests using it. It was clean, the water was relatively calm, and our toddlers loved playing in the sand.
You Won’t Need to Leave the Hotel
Grand Hyatt Bali has plenty to keep the whole family happy without venturing far.
The resort has a shopping area, with stalls selling Balinese souvenirs in the evenings, and Bali Collection shopping center is just a short walk away.

There are several restaurants on-site, and we particularly enjoyed the Japanese restaurant. Pasar Senggol is another fun option, offering a night-market-style dining experience with Indonesian and Balinese cuisine. All-inclusive packages are also available, depending on the booking, if you’d prefer to keep things simple.
The rooms are clean and functional, although they’re not the main reason I’d choose this resort. Some areas show their age, so if you want the newest interiors, other properties may suit you better. But if you’re spending most of your days at the pools or beach, the overall experience more than makes up for it.
For us, the real luxury was how easy it was to keep two small children happy.
Is Grand Hyatt Bali Worth It?
Yes! For the right family, absolutely.
Grand Hyatt Bali may not be Bali’s newest or most design-forward luxury resort, but it gets the practical things right. And when you’re traveling with young children, those things matter.
I’d especially recommend Grand Hyatt Bali for families with babies, toddlers, and primary-school-aged children who want a relaxed, resort-centered holiday.
Since we personally vetted the property, we can help families choose the right rooms, explore eligible Hyatt Privé benefits, and plan stays that work for everyone, from the smallest travelers to the adults who would quite like to finish a meal in peace.
If you’re interested in the mermaid or pirate-themed rooms, reach out early, as there’s only one of each.
