To tackle the heavy travel rush during the Dol Yatra and Holi festivals, Eastern Railway has unveiled two hundred and seventy-six special trains. These services are specifically introduced to handle the surge in passengers and connect major cities across India, including Delhi, Prayagraj, Jaipur, and Visakhapatnam. By launching this extensive network of special trains, Eastern Railway aims to manage the high demand for travel, offering passengers both reserved and unreserved options to ensure smoother, more flexible journeys. This initiative reflects the railway’s commitment to addressing the increased travel needs during the festive period, providing relief to thousands of travelers.

Eastern Railway Rolls Out 276 Special Trains to Manage Dol Yatra and Holi Travel Surge

In anticipation of the heightened travel demand during the Dol Yatra and Holi celebrations, Eastern Railway has launched an extensive network of 276 special trains. These services aim to manage the surge in passengers traveling from key stations, offering direct connections to popular destinations such as Delhi, Prayagraj, Jaipur, and Visakhapatnam. These special arrangements are designed to provide relief during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

Targeted Train Services for Holiday Travelers

Eastern Railway is spearheading the operation of 66 special trains, designed specifically for this festive season. In addition, 116 pairs of special trains originating from other zonal railways will either depart from or arrive at Eastern Railway stations. A total of 94 trains will pass through the network, ensuring comprehensive connectivity across multiple regions. These efforts are aimed at accommodating the increased number of passengers heading to various destinations during the festive rush.

A total of 15 Holi Special trains are being operated across multiple divisions. These services connect various routes, such as Howrah-Raxaul, Sealdah-Madhubani, Sealdah-Gorakhpur, Asansol-Gorakhpur, Dankuni-Anand Vihar, Malda Town-Anand Vihar, and Kolkata-New Jalpaiguri. These additional services help passengers travel more comfortably during the festival period.

Unreserved One-Way Specials to Facilitate Flexible Travel

In a bid to offer more flexible travel options, Eastern Railway has introduced one-way, unreserved special trains to accommodate the high volume of holiday travelers. On March 1, unreserved specials departed from Sealdah and Howrah to Delhi, from Sealdah to Prayagraj, and from Howrah to Visakhapatnam. On March 2, one-way specials to Delhi and Jaipur will leave Sealdah and Kolkata respectively, providing more travel flexibility. For passengers in Asansol, one-way specials to Prayagraj and Jaipur will operate on March 2 and 3.

These unreserved trains are essential for handling the increased travel demand, offering passengers greater freedom to travel without the need for advance reservations, ensuring smoother journeys across the network.

Additional Trains and Coaches to Meet Demand

As part of their strategy to further enhance services, Eastern Railway has added extra coaches to three prominent express trains for the month of March. These trains include the Madar Jn-Kolkata Weekly Express, Ajmer-Sealdah Express, and Bikaner-Kolkata Express. The additional coaches will help reduce overcrowding and ensure there are enough seats for passengers traveling to popular destinations during this festive period.

In the Sealdah Division, nine pairs of special trains will operate between February 27 and March 22. These trains will serve multiple destinations, including Madhubani, Gorakhpur, New Jalpaiguri, Dibrugarh, and Lalkuan. These special trains are designed to provide more travel options for passengers heading to various locations during the festival rush.

Enhanced Security Measures and Passenger Management

Given the large crowds expected during the festival, Eastern Railway has implemented a robust set of measures to ensure the safety and convenience of travelers. Major stations such as Howrah, Sealdah, Asansol, and Malda will have enhanced security protocols in place, including the deployment of Railway Protection Force personnel. These measures aim to prevent congestion, maintain order, and ensure the smooth flow of passengers.

Moreover, the stations will be equipped with additional ticket-checking personnel, and CCTV surveillance will be employed to enhance security. These steps are aimed at providing a safe and comfortable experience for all passengers, especially during the busiest travel days of the festival.

Travel Tips for Passengers

Passengers are strongly advised to plan their travels ahead of time and make use of the unreserved ticketing services available on many of the special trains. With increased train services, extra coaches, and enhanced security measures, Eastern Railway is committed to providing a more comfortable and efficient travel experience during the festival season.

To manage the surge in travel during Dol Yatra and Holi, Eastern Railway has launched two hundred and seventy-six special trains, connecting major cities across India with both reserved and unreserved services to ease passenger congestion.

By making use of the newly introduced services and staying informed about the schedule, travelers can minimize the stress and hassle of navigating busy stations. Eastern Railway’s careful planning and additional services will ensure that passengers can travel to their destinations with ease, helping to make this festive season a smoother and more enjoyable experience for all.
