New Jersey has been the center of attention on Saturday, with popular locations such as Ocean City and Belmar under a High Wind Warning and Coastal Flood Warning.
These severe conditions are already causing significant coastal erosion, transforming numerous communities along the coastline.
WHAT IS COASTAL EROSION AND WHY IS IT DANGEROUS?
Powerful waves, ferocious wind gusts and heavy rain have battered communities in the state, resulting in inundated roads.
In one community, a resident and a dog ventured outdoors to see how severe the conditions are, only to find a completely flooded road and use a canoe to travel through the neighborhood.
Communities throughout Southern New York have been slammed by persistent rainfall and coastal flooding as the nor’easter barrels towards the region.
Locations such as Long Island, New York City and Westchester County have already experienced repeated rounds of rainfall since Friday, resulting in flooded roads.
Residents in Queens, New York, were forced to use canoes to travel through the area as heavy floodwaters have completely transformed the metro area.
Similarly, in Greenport, New York, High Wind and Coastal Flood Warnings are in effect, as communities along the coast are being battered by intense waves and powerful wind gusts up to 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
Eastern Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island are not immune to the severe effects of the nor’easter, with continued rain bands and very gusty winds throughout this weekend.
The trend of powerful surf, crashing onshore and aiding in the flood threat continues throughout the weekend, as locations such as Hingham Harbor are on the verge of overflowing onto dry land amidst persistent rainfall and strong winds.
Large cities such as Providence, Rhode Island, and Boston are being drenched by heavy rain and damaging winds, as numerous trees throughout the region have reportedly been ripped from the ground.
Connecticut has also fallen victim to the wet and nasty conditions produced by the nor'easter, as locations such as Bridgeport are seeing rainfall totals just under 3.4 feet below the historic Superstorm Sandy and would rank among the fifth-highest rain totals of all time for the state.

North Carolina was the center of attention at the start of the week as the nor’easter steadily approached the Mid-Atlantic region, with rough winds and high surf battering the Outer Banks.
Along the coastline, including areas like Kill Devil Hills, huge waves as tall as 12 to 15 feet and wind gusts as strong as 32 mph have lashed the region, creating an unlikely scene of sea foam flying around.
Coastal Flood and High Surf advisories continue to plague the region, with little relief in sight as persistent rainfall continues through the night.
As a result of the destructive conditions, the iconic Avon Pier was destroyed along the Outer Banks.
This will continue to greatly impact beaches along the coast, contributing to significant coastal erosion and transforming communities.
