Driven by Passion: Inside the Culture That Makes Megaworld Hotels & Resorts a Great Place To Work
Hospitality is often associated with warm smiles and flawless guest experiences, but behind every welcoming gesture is work that demands both physical endurance and emotional resilience. A career in the service industry involves long hours on one’s feet and the ongoing need to show genuine care. It requires an unwavering commitment to serving others well, regardless of the circumstance.

“Hospitality is demanding work, and we recognize that excellence cannot be sustained without a culture that genuinely cares for its people. Being recognized as a Great Place To Work affirms what we have always believed—that when employees feel respected, included, and inspired by purpose, their passion naturally translates into meaningful guest experiences. Our culture is built on the Circle of Happiness and the Sampaguita brand of service, reminding us that caring for our people is at the very heart of caring for our guests,” Cleofe Albiso, Managing Director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts said.
At Megaworld Hotels & Resorts (MHR), passion sustains our work and gives it meaning. It fuels a workplace culture that values people just as much as performance and has helped the organization earn recognition as a Great Place To Work. This honor reflects a deeply held belief: when employees are inspired and supported, a genuine love for their work naturally follows.

The Circle of Happiness and the Sampaguita Brand of Service
At the heart of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts’ success is its Circle of Happiness (COH) framework, a core philosophy that shapes the company’s culture, values, and daily decisions. This people-centered approach creates a workplace where individuals are encouraged to grow not only as employees, but as whole persons with unique goals and strengths.
Anchored on five pillars—Love for Self, Love for Work, Love for Family, Love for Country, and Love for God—the Circle of Happiness helps employees find deeper purpose, joy, and meaning in what they do. Love for Self promotes self-care and continuous learning. Love for Work nurtures passion and pride in one’s role. Love for Family supports work-life balance. Love for Country strengthens patriotism and the desire to represent the Philippines well. Love for God fosters gratitude, integrity, and a strong moral compass.
This culture is brought to life through MHR’s signature Sampaguita brand of service, a hallmark of warm, heartfelt hospitality rooted in Filipino tradition. Inspired by the Sampaguita flower’s five petals—love, honor, dignity, healing, and the Philippine flag—it reflects the Filipino spirit and great national pride. Love and honor guide associates to treat every guest with respect and sincerity. Dignity affirms the value of each person. Healing speaks to the comfort and joy that genuine hospitality can bring. The Philippine flag symbolizes the responsibility to showcase the best of Filipino culture.
These values guide every associate in how they welcome and care for guests, influencing even the smallest gestures. Through the Circle of Happiness and the Sampaguita brand of service, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts creates meaningful connections, memorable experiences, and a lasting impression of authentic Filipino hospitality.

Building a Culture of Inclusivity
From the Circle of Happiness to the Sampaguita Stem initiatives that translate values into action, inclusivity stands out as one of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts’ most defining principles. It is rooted in the belief that a great workplace thrives when everyone is given equal opportunities to grow, lead, and succeed.
This commitment is reflected in the latest employee survey, which shows that 95% of employees agree that individuals are treated fairly, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. A leadership team that was once 80% male has transformed; today, women represent 51% of all decision-makers across the organization. Since 2019, 74 women across MHR’s 14 properties have been promoted into larger roles.
MHR is also the first hotel chain in the Philippines to achieve 100% accreditation as a Muslim-Friendly Accommodation Establishment from the Department of Tourism. This recognition underscores MHR’s dedication to ensuring that both guests and employees can practice their faith with dignity, comfort, and ease.
By championing inclusivity, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts strengthens collaboration across departments and cultivates diverse perspectives that drive innovation. The result is a workplace where individuality is respected, voices are heard, and leadership truly reflects the diversity of the people it serves.

Investing in the Future Through the Next Gen Leadership Council
Driven by a passion for long-term growth, MHR invests heavily in developing future leaders from within. Central to this effort is the Next Gen Leadership Council (NGLC), a forward-thinking program created to prepare young associates for greater leadership roles and responsibilities as the organization continues to expand.
From an initial pool of 70 applicants, 25 associates aged 23 to 34—representing a range of departments and properties—were selected for an intensive eight-month leadership journey. The program blends curated lectures with cross-property exposure to all key areas of hotel operations and corporate strategy, giving participants a broad, strategic view of the business.
Through direct mentorship and collaboration with current leaders, NGLC members gain practical insights into decision-making, innovation, and values-based leadership in a real-world hospitality environment. The program builds a solid pipeline of capable professionals ready to assume critical roles, helping close the gap between leadership opportunities and qualified talent. This initiative underscores MHR’s commitment to nurturing leaders who are both highly skilled and deeply grounded in the company’s values.
At its core, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts is driven by passion—for its people and for the country. Through the Circle of Happiness, the Sampaguita brand of service, its culture of inclusivity, and leadership programs like the NGLC, MHR show that even in an industry defined by hard work, it is possible to create a workplace where people feel inspired to stay, grow, and lead.
