Animal Spotlight: Seahorses is an intimate behind-the-scenes program that highlights native seahorses and Singapore’s marine biodiversity.

Guests will embark on an immersive journey through the oceanarium, exploring a variety of vital aquatic habitats that showcase the rich diversity of marine life. Following this, they will visit the newly inaugurated Seahorse Support Area, a dedicated space designed for education and conservation.

Here, visitors can observe feeding sessions where they will see seahorses actively hunt and interact, while also learning in detail about seahorse care, including nutritional needs and habitat requirements. Additionally, they will gain insights into breeding programs and the specialized husbandry practices used to ensure the health and sustainability of these fascinating creatures.

Seahorses are known for their distinctive biology, such as male pregnancy and specialized hunting methods. They are vital to coastal ecosystems but face growing threats from habitat destruction, pollution, and accidental catch in fisheries. The program highlights these issues and showcases regional conservation efforts and research collaborations.

Participants will also learn how the Singapore Oceanarium promotes seahorse conservation by conducting monitoring surveys and collaborating across Southeast Asia, contributing to the protection of wild populations and habitats.
