Azerbaijan seeks to attract tourists from Vietnam

Azerbaijan - a country located in Southwest Asia - is actively promoting its image and tourism potential in Vietnam. At the Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo (ITE HCMC) 2025, which opened on September 4, Azerbaijan participated for the first time with a national pavilion, marking an important step in attracting Vietnamese visitors and expanding bilateral cooperation.

Azerbaijan, a country located at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Southwest Asia, is taking significant steps to boost its international tourism appeal, particularly in Vietnam. At the Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo (ITE HCMC) 2025, Azerbaijan made its debut with a national pavilion, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to attract Vietnamese visitors and foster greater bilateral cooperation.

Held annually, ITE HCMC is a prominent platform for travel and tourism industry professionals, offering a dynamic venue for countries to showcase their attractions and connect with potential visitors. Azerbaijan’s participation this year is particularly noteworthy, as it is the country’s first appearance at this prestigious event. By having a national pavilion, Azerbaijan is not only highlighting its unique cultural and natural offerings but also emphasizing its growing interest in expanding its tourism sector to the Vietnamese market.

The pavilion featured a wide range of attractions, from Azerbaijan’s rich history and vibrant culture to its breathtaking landscapes. Visitors were introduced to the country’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, ancient traditions, and modern hospitality services, all of which contribute to making Azerbaijan an exciting travel destination. The pavilion also showcased Azerbaijan’s position as an emerging hub for ecotourism, with its stunning Caspian Sea coastline, the picturesque Caucasus Mountains, and lush forests offering unparalleled opportunities for adventure tourism.

Azerbaijan’s tourism authorities are eager to build stronger ties with Vietnam, a rapidly growing source market for tourism in Southeast Asia. With its first-time participation in ITE HCMC, the country aims to increase Vietnamese visitors to Azerbaijan, capitalizing on the growing interest in cultural exchange and tourism between the two nations. Furthermore, the national pavilion serves as a bridge for deeper cooperation in areas such as travel trade, cultural diplomacy, and economic partnerships, marking the beginning of a promising new chapter in Azerbaijan’s tourism promotion strategy.

Strengthening Vietnam – Azerbaijan bilateral relations

In recent years, the friendship between the two countries has grown stronger. The “Vietnam Days” event held in Baku last July laid a solid foundation for boosting cultural and tourism cooperation. Building on that success, Azerbaijan’s participation in ITE HCMC 2025 is expected to generate new initiatives in tourism, trade, and cultural exchange.

Notably, following the state visit of General Secretary To Lam and the signing of the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership in May 2025, Vietnam-Azerbaijan relations have entered a new, deeper, and more substantive phase. Beyond tourism, Azerbaijan is also keen on cooperation in agriculture and food production, areas where Vietnam has strong export potential. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan’s renowned organic food products create opportunities for two-way trade.

These efforts not only strengthen the traditional friendship between the two nations but also pave the way for long-term cooperative projects, contributing to the sustainable and comprehensive development of Vietnam-Azerbaijan relations.
