Australia Next 2025 Kicks Off in Melbourne, Showcasing Australia as a Premier Global Destination for Business Events and Incentive Travel
Australia Next 2025 kicks off in Melbourne, showcasing Australia as a top business events destination with a diverse range of venues and incentive offerings.
International decision-makers have arrived in Melbourne/Narrm to participate in Tourism Australia’s signature business events showcase, Australia Next. Running for the next two days, this event aims to increase awareness of Australia’s offerings as a premier destination for business events. It is the first time since 2013 that the showcase has returned to Melbourne, a city renowned for its diverse incentive offerings and vibrant event spaces.
A Global Gathering of Industry Leaders
Australia Next 2025 has brought together 14 media representatives, 97 Australian industry sellers, and 95 business event planners from key international markets such as North America, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Greater China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, South Korea, and Japan. This diverse group of industry experts is gathered to explore and experience firsthand the unique incentives and event options Australia has to offer.
Robin Mack, Acting Managing Director of Tourism Australia, emphasized that the showcase’s success in attracting international incentive event planners has significantly contributed to securing a pipeline of high-profile events for the country. Last year’s showcase in Cairns/Gimuy generated 161 business leads, worth an estimated $170 million, and Tourism Australia is confident that this year’s event will bring even greater results for the business events sector.
Showcasing Australia’s Diversity to International Planners
The Australia Next event is designed to provide international planners with an immersive experience, allowing them to see the very best of Melbourne and its incentive offerings. The planners will also have the chance to participate in familiarization trips across various regional and urban destinations in Australia, gaining insights into the breadth of the country’s attractions. These destinations include regional Victoria, Cairns/Gimuy, Brisbane/Meeanjin, the Gold Coast, Sydney/Warrane, Perth/Boorloo, Adelaide/Tarntanya, and Hobart/nipaluna.
In addition to experiencing Melbourne’s dynamic event spaces, planners will be able to explore the city’s world-class food and wine culture, as well as its vibrant calendar of major events. Melbourne’s unique charm, from its iconic laneways to its close proximity to regional gems, offers the perfect balance of business and leisure opportunities, making it an ideal choice for incentive programs and business events.
The Business Session: Connecting Sellers and Planners
The event began with a business session at the purpose-built CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park, where pre-scheduled appointments between planners and Australian sellers took place. This session provided a crucial opportunity for planners to connect with local sellers, allowing them to learn about the best venues, experiences, and event management services available across the country. Over the course of three days, international planners and media will engage with Melbourne’s diverse offerings, gaining direct access to expert insights and event delivery strategies.
Julia Swanson, CEO of the Melbourne Convention Bureau, highlighted that Australia Next 2025 is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Melbourne’s appeal to the global incentive market. The city’s combination of exceptional event spaces, renowned culinary experiences, and vibrant cultural scene makes it a top choice for international business event planners. The state of Victoria also offers a wide variety of regional attractions just a short drive from Melbourne, further enhancing the city’s position as a premier destination for business and leisure.
Promoting Australia’s Global Appeal
This year’s showcase reinforces Australia’s commitment to attracting international business events and reinforces the importance of showcasing the country’s strengths to decision-makers in the events industry. Tourism Australia, in partnership with the Melbourne Convention Bureau, has worked hard to create a program that highlights Australia’s potential as a destination that offers more than just business venues. With its stunning natural landscapes, iconic landmarks, and vibrant culture, Australia continues to be a sought-after destination for global events and incentive programs.
The event is being held in collaboration with key airline partners, including Singapore Airlines for travelers from Asia and the UK, and Qantas for North American delegates. These partnerships further emphasize Australia’s commitment to making travel to and from the country easier and more convenient for business event planners.
The Road Ahead: Building Stronger International Connections
Australia Next 2025 serves as an essential platform for networking, collaboration, and learning. The event not only provides valuable insights into Australia’s growing role as a destination for international business events but also strengthens the country’s position as a global leader in the tourism and events industries. By working together with airlines, event planners, and tourism bodies, Tourism Australia is fostering stronger international connections, ensuring that Australia remains at the forefront of the global events market.
As the event continues, delegates will experience Melbourne’s vibrant offerings, explore the country’s diverse incentive destinations, and leave with a deeper understanding of Australia’s potential as a business events destination. With more than 62 million dollars generated annually through the daily direct flights, Australia Next is not just an event—it’s a vital part of the ongoing efforts to attract international business and tourism to Australia.
