Air Premia to Launch New Seoul to Dulles Flights Ahead of Peak Travel Season

Air Premia will launch four-weekly Seoul–Dulles flights on the 787-9, expanding travel options for U.S.–Korea passengers this summer.

A new long-haul link between Seoul Incheon and Washington Dulles will begin in late April. The service is planned to match the heavy travel activity expected during the summer period. The route will be the second nonstop option between the two airports and will broaden access for travelers moving between South Korea and the Washington region. The operation will also mark Air Premia’s longest scheduled service in the United States.

Route Structure and Flight Timings Designed for Seasonal Demand

The new operation will be flown with Boeing 787-9 aircraft on a four-weekly pattern. The schedule has been arranged around peak demand months when travel interest is consistently high. Westbound flights will have extended block times because the route will avoid Russian airspace. These westbound segments may take up to 15 hours and 25 minutes.
Eastbound flights toward the United States will operate with shorter timings, reaching approximately 13 hours and 45 minutes.
The route will enter a market already served by another carrier. Recent travel data shows strong movement between Seoul Incheon and Washington Dulles. Passenger volumes were around 120,000 round-trip travelers within a recent twelve-month period. When traffic for all airports in the wider Washington area is counted, the number exceeded 150,000 travelers.
Air Premia will also operate charter flights to Las Vegas in January, expanding its presence in long-haul leisure travel. The airline continues to follow a hybrid carrier structure that combines long-haul wide-body aircraft with cost-efficient pricing methods.

Travelers Benefit From Additional Capacity on a High-Demand Corridor

Tourists and long-distance travelers often seek reliable access between major hubs, and an increase in nonstop flights typically supports this need. Additional seat capacity can improve planning flexibility for visitors moving between two major urban regions. It may also create more travel options during heavy seasons when demand rises sharply.
The presence of another carrier on this corridor can help support consistent tourism movement, especially when previous schedules were more limited. Travel behavior on long-haul routes often responds quickly to new flight availability, as tourists look for shorter total travel times and easier airport connections. The expanded schedule may therefore give travelers more freedom to choose departures that align with varied itineraries or multi-city plans.
Tourists tend to prioritize predictable schedules, especially on long routes. A second nonstop option may help stabilize availability during periods of high demand. The introduction of this service may increase route resilience from a traveler’s viewpoint, offering an added layer of reliability for those planning complex journeys.

Market Conditions and Regional Travel Patterns Shape the Route Launch

The airline depends on point-to-point traffic for its long-haul operations. The model focuses on direct travel demand without a transfer network. Other carriers with similar structures have faced challenges, yet each market behaves differently. The Washington metropolitan area has displayed strong demand for travel to South Korea and other destinations in Asia. This regional pattern may help sustain the route through steady interest from leisure travelers and visiting-friends-and-relatives segments.
The regional air travel landscape also changed after the suspension of another long-haul service earlier in the year. While this development does not directly alter the Seoul market, it does shift broader travel dynamics for long-distance routes at the airport.
Air Premia’s upcoming schedule responds to this environment by focusing on a corridor with consistent demand. Travelers moving between South Korea and the Washington region will gain a new option during a period of strong seasonal movement.
