Thailand is getting ready to host seven Diwali celebrations in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket from November 3 to November 29 2026. These events are part of an effort to highlight Indian culture boost tourism and draw more international travelers during one of Thailand’s busiest travel periods. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is supporting the Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2026 which will include five diya-lighting ceremonies, Bollywood music, Indian food, cultural shows and fun activities for visitors. The celebrations will turn tourist spots into lively cultural hubs showing the strong ties between Thailand and India. This comes before the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations, between Thailand and India in 2027.

Seven Events Connect Indian Traditions with Thai Tourism

Organised by the Indian Association of Thailand and the Thai–India Trade and Tourism Association, the festival involves cooperation with TAT, the Embassy of India in Bangkok and public- and private-sector partners.

Diwali, also known as Deepavali, celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Families traditionally mark the occasion with lamps, prayers, shared meals and gifts. In 2026, Diwali falls on 8 November, but Thailand will extend its celebrations across much of the month.

The festival’s five main diya-lighting ceremonies will take place at different locations, giving travellers more than one opportunity to experience this important tradition.

Bangkok Opens with Diwali Lights and Bollywood Music

The first event, “The First Light”, will take place at Central Bangrak in Bangkok on 3 and 4 November. A ceremonial lighting of traditional Indian oil lamps is scheduled for 3 November from 5 pm to 6 pm, followed by live Bollywood music.

Bangkok’s opening programme introduces the festival in a setting that combines cultural entertainment with the capital’s retail and dining attractions. Visitors can include the event in an evening itinerary without travelling outside the city.

ICONSIAM’s Riverpark hosts another celebration from 6 to 8 November, overlooking the Chao Phraya River.

ICONSIAM Marks Diwali Day with a Riverside Spectacle

The ICONSIAM programme, “Lotus by the River”, will reach its highlight on 8 November. Organisers have scheduled a diya-lighting ceremony from 5 pm to 6 pm and a riverside fireworks display at 6 pm.

The three-day celebration will bring Indian traditions into one of Bangkok’s most recognisable waterfront locations. Travellers can combine the activities with riverside sightseeing and nearby dining experiences.

As the fireworks and lighting events have fixed times, visitors planning to attend should allow for evening traffic and potential crowds. They should also confirm the latest programme arrangements before departure.

Pattaya Offers Two Distinct Festive Experiences

Pattaya will host celebrations in two locations. Central Festival Pattaya Beach will present “Nine Nights of Candlelight” from 7 to 15 November, including activities on Diwali Day, 8 November.

Meanwhile, Pattaya Beach Road will stage “Lamps Along the Shore” from 13 to 15 November. Its main diya-lighting ceremony will take place on 13 November between 6 pm and 7 pm.

The two programmes give visitors different ways to experience the occasion, from shopping-centre festivities to a celebration beside the sea. They also create additional reasons to explore Pattaya’s restaurants, beachfront and entertainment areas during the November travel season.

Phuket Brings Indian Food to the Festival

Phuket will participate on 8 November through “A Sunday of Flavour” at Central Patong. The programme features an Indian food festival and other festive activities.

For visitors holidaying on the island, the event offers an opportunity to experience Indian cuisine and Diwali traditions without travelling to Bangkok or Pattaya. Its food-focused approach also highlights how cultural events can complement Phuket’s established beach, hospitality and entertainment offerings.

Bangkok’s Little India Hosts a Remarkable Cultural Convergence

Bangkok’s Phahurat district, widely known as Little India, will host “Threads of Faith” from 20 to 24 November. The programme builds on Diwali activities held along nearby Khlong Ong Ang since 2022.

A particularly significant ceremony is planned for 24 November, when Dev Deepavali, the Thai festival of Loi Krathong and the Sikh observance of Gurpurab coincide on the same full-moon night. The diya-lighting ceremony will take place from 5 pm to 6 pm.

The gathering will highlight Bangkok’s multicultural traditions while directing attention towards a neighbourhood known for its Indian heritage, markets and long-established commercial community.

EMQUARTIER Closes a Month of Celebrations

The festival will conclude with “Music on the Avenue” at Quartier Avenue, EMQUARTIER, from 26 to 29 November. Its final diya-lighting ceremony is scheduled for 29 November between 5 pm and 6 pm.

Participating shopping destinations will also offer seasonal promotions and special privileges, although travellers should check individual venues for applicable conditions.

TAT’s fifth consecutive year of support reflects the importance of cultural festivals to Thailand’s visitor economy. By connecting Indian heritage with Bangkok’s riverfront, Pattaya’s coastline and Phuket’s culinary scene, the programme gives travellers multiple ways to engage with local communities while strengthening tourism links between Thailand and India.

Thailand is getting ready for the Grand Diwali Festival 2026. The event will take place from November 3 to November 29 across Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket. It will include seven celebrations. These events aim to highlight heritage and boost tourism. The festival will bring together lamp-lighting ceremonies, music and festive entertainment.
